Live for Today

I've been a bit obsessed with the story in the news the last few weeks of Stephanie and Christian Nielson a young couple from Arizona who were badly burned in a small airplane crash in mid-August. Read the New York Times article on this family and the amazing outpouring of love that has come via the Internet for them. I found out about this story because of the auctions that Gabrielle at Design Mom started for them.

The Nielsons have four very young children (who were not with them on the flight) and they were returning from a family ranch in New Mexico with Christian's flight instructor when their plane stalled over St. John's, Arizona and they crashed. The flight instructor was killed and Christian was burned over 30% of his body while Stephanie was burned over 80% of her body. Stephanie Nielson is originally from Provo and for several years has kept a blog about motherhood and her family life to keep in touch with her family. Her blog is called the NieNie Dialogues. Her sister Courtney is posting regularly about Christian and Stephanie on her blog C Jane Enjoy It. This family is quirky and funny and full of life and my hopes and prayers are with them through this difficult time.

Also, on this very important day, I just want to acknowledge as well the tragedy that happened seven years ago in the U.S. and all those people who suffered and died. That was a national day of horror. Our prayers are with all the family and friends who are missing loved ones today. We will not forget.

Edin, thank you for the reminder of what is really important in life. This sounds trivial but i dropped my iphone yesterday and I was fine but a little sad. It is working fine...but my point is, who cares if it has a little scrape on two ends of it. it is just a silly phone. There are so many more important things that come to mind when hearing about that couple and the huge struggles in their lives right now or always remembering 9-11...that a silly iphone does not compare to at all!
I pray that couple will make it through. That just breaks my heart!
